Identfiying vinyls

Ever get a roll of vinyl that just looks different? So we received this air-egress stuff with a darker adhesive than we're used to we thought it was 3M but has no 3M markings. What are some signs you look for when trying to identify unknown vinyl? share any tips you might have!

Wrapped a few cars myself, no pro, so here's my experience. 3M always has some marking, regardless of how small or subtle it is. Not seeing it is your first sign of trouble. If you're suspicious, do a heat test. The good stuff will stretch evenly and once it cools down it will start to return to it's original shape. The crappy ones will wrinkle

Usually, I just base it on the thickness or feel. You know, if it feels thicker or thinner than my old vinyl rolls

I've definitely experienced that before. Not too long ago, I bought what I believed was Avery wrap from someone selling off their shop equipment, and when it arrived, the adhesive just didn't stick properly. I did a stretch and snap test with my heat gun, and it wrinkled really badly. I learned pretty quickly to trust my instincts and check for those little backing logos. By the way, does yours feel thinner or stiffer compared to your usual rolls?
